This is an investigation of postvelar harmony in two genetically and geographically unrelated languages: Palestinian Arabic (Semitic) and St'át'imcets (Salish)The. first aim is to show that both have two distinct postvelar harmonies, pharyngealisation harmony and uvularisation harmony.
